Chicago

-Chicago is the largest city in the state of Illinois. With over 9 million residents in the metropolis, we have the most populous city in the beautiful state Illinois.

-Chicago was founded in 1833 due to its prime location on Lake Michigan. Today, the city retains its status as a major hub, both for industry and infrastructure.

-As of 2010, Chicago's metropolitan area has the 4th largest Gross Domestic product (GDP) of all metropolitan areas in the world. The city is a center for business and finance and is listed as one of the world's top ten Global Financial Centres.

-From its beautiful architecture noticed at the Sears Tower, to its performing arts in the historic Chicago theatre, to its raging sports fans in Wrigley Field or the United Centre, Chicago's big city culture is one of the most vibrant downtowns in the world.

-Its Magnificent Mile and State Street, the city's modern urbane shopping streets, are a a major reason why Chicago brings in an average of $11.8 million a year contributing to Chicago's economy.

-Lincoln Park, the city's largest public park, brings in an average of 20 million visitors a year making it only second to New York's Central Park.

- In 2000, Mayor Daley installed a rooftop garden on Chicago's City Hall as an experiment in the economic and environmental viability of green roofs. Since then, there are over 7 million square feet of green roofs completed or underway throughout Chicago, more than all other U.S. cities combined. This started an environmental reaction, as Chicago now consists of many green hotels, restaurants and transportation.

- Chicago's Cloud gate is home to the unique 'Bean', a fun large stainless steal bean for tourists to recognize downtown, in Millennium park.

-However, there are some problems facing Chicago, such as its financial budget and government taxing to the population as it is expensive to live in Chicago with the furious populace constantly criticizing the mayor. It leads North America in highest sales tax. Another severe problem facing us Chicagoans is its corrupt politicians. It seems every day, politicians are receiving jail sentences after racketeering, mail fraud, filing false tax returns, or lying to investigators.

-Wrigley Field; one of the oldest baseball parks in the World, home to the epic Chicago and Major League Baseball rivalry, the Chicago Cubs vs the Chicago White Sox, boasting rights to 5 combines world series titles together. Also, Chicago is home to the Chicago Bears winners of one Superbowl in 1985 and the most refined arena in sports, the United Centre home to Michael Jordan and the illustrious Chicago Bulls for basketball, and home to Chicago Blackhawks original members of the original six and Stanley Cup Champions.
